BULLNOSE DOLPHIN: TAPESTRY PILLOW ALL ABOUT THE ARTIST:Guy Harvey paints from his studio in the Grand Cayman Islands where he lives with his wife Gillian and their children, Jessica and Alexander. As an artist, scientist, diver, angler, adventurer and family man, Harvey was inspired at an early age by the sea around him. A native of Jamaica, Guy spent countless hours fishing and diving with his father along the islands south coast. It propelled him from studies in the biology and ecology of coastal pelagic species as a Professor of Marine Biology, to an internationally renowned marine wildlife artist.Dr. Harvey is one of the most respected conservationists in his field. As a skilled scuba diver and skilled marine biologist, Guy was first to interact with most species of free-swimming billfish. Guys works stretch across many oceans. He consistently supports catch and release efforts among sports fishermen in Jamaica and abroad. He works closely with conservation organizations to protect fishery resources around the world. Guy was appointed as a Trustee of the International Game Fish Association in 1993 and in 1998 was voted the first ever Lifetime Achievement Award by the IGFA. In May of 1997, in cooperation with the Pompano Beach Fishing Rodeo, Guy Harvey sponsored the sinking of a 150 foot freighter as part of an ongoing artificial reef program. The Guy Harvey signature has become synonymous with compelling action and fine detail in marine wildlife art. His original artwork is reproduced on canvass giclees, fine art limited edition lithographs, silk screen printed apparel, embroidered sportswear, giftware, woven tapestry throws and other home furnishing products.
